Maxis Speed Test
Ready to test your connection
Test destination: Cloudflare edge network, selected by network routing. This is an independent test, not an official ISP diagnostic. The test service receives your IP address. Privacy Policy · Understand your results
How this test measures your connection
The tool uses Cloudflare’s open-source measurement engine (version 1.15.0) with progressively larger real download and upload transfers. It reports estimated throughput and HTTP response timing to Cloudflare; it does not measure UDP packet loss, identify your ISP automatically, or guarantee the full speed of a gigabit line. The chart shows speed estimates collected during this run; each chart scales independently.
A test requests up to 103.1 MB of download data and 58 MB of upload data, plus small latency requests and protocol overhead. Stages may stop early. Optional engine result logging is disabled. No result history is stored by this tool. Measurement engine
Run this independent Maxis speed test to check download, upload, idle latency and jitter on your active connection in Malaysia. It works in your browser on Maxis Home Fibre, a mobile connection or a home wireless service. Connect to the network you want to measure, then select START.
This website is not owned or endorsed by Maxis. Test traffic goes to Cloudflare’s edge network, not directly to a Maxis diagnostic server. If Maxis support asks for results from a particular test, follow its instructions as well.
How to test Maxis Home Fibre
- Connect a capable computer directly to your router using Ethernet. Confirm that the router port and computer adapter support the speed of your plan.
- Pause large downloads, streaming, cloud backups and uploads on other devices. Disconnect a VPN temporarily when comparing your ordinary connection.
- Run two or three tests with the same device and conditions. Note the time, connection type and test destination.
- Repeat over WiFi close to the router, then in the room where the problem occurs. A large wired-versus-WiFi difference helps identify a wireless bottleneck.
A good fibre connection cannot overcome a 100 Mbps adapter, a faulty cable or a weak WiFi link. Check these before paying for a faster package. Follow the instructions for your own router and service when making configuration changes.
Maxis app test versus a browser speed test
The Maxis app’s home-network management features and a test running on your phone do not necessarily measure the same part of the connection. A test associated with your home router can help assess the connection reaching the home, while a browser test on a phone also includes the WiFi path to that phone.
Maxis explains this difference in its Test My Home WiFi FAQ. If the home-network test looks healthy but the phone is slow upstairs, investigate the wireless link before treating the difference as a fibre fault. Different endpoints and measurement methods can also produce different numbers.
Testing Maxis mobile or home wireless internet
For a mobile SIM, turn WiFi off and verify the SIM selected for mobile data. Record whether 4G or 5G is active. Repeat in the same place and compare another suitable indoor position if signal conditions are poor.
For a home wireless router, the route includes the mobile radio connection and the WiFi or Ethernet connection to your device. Compare Ethernet where supported and test a few router positions. A coverage map does not guarantee identical indoor results in every room.
Mobile plans, hotspot allowances, speed caps and Fair Usage Policies vary. Check the current conditions of your exact subscription rather than applying a fibre plan’s specifications to a mobile connection. Testing can use up to approximately 165 MB plus overhead. A bounded test may underestimate a very fast connection.
What to do with a disappointing Maxis result
| Your comparison | Next useful check |
|---|---|
| Ethernet is fast; WiFi is slow | Check distance, walls, interference, WiFi band and router placement. |
| Only one phone or laptop is slow | Compare its network hardware, background activity and software with a second capable device. |
| Every capable device is slow on Ethernet | Repeat with background traffic paused, check the cable/link rate and retain the results for Maxis support. |
| Download is fast but calls or games lag | Look at latency, jitter and changes during uploads. A large Mbps number does not establish low latency to every application. |
| Mobile speed changes sharply by location | Compare the same device, network mode and time; radio conditions may be contributing. |
Do not factory-reset a working router or change broadband credentials merely because one test is low. Keep a small record of comparable results and describe whether the issue affects WiFi, Ethernet, mobile data or all of them.
Reading the results
Download and upload are estimates in Mbps. Idle latency shows HTTP response timing to Cloudflare; jitter describes variation in those idle timings. The downloadable CSV includes response-timing estimates during transfers when available; these are not displayed in the three main cards and do not identify the exact fault or router.
Read our speed-test results guide for the measurement principles and Mbps-to-MB/s examples. Although its examples discuss Unifi, the units and comparison method also apply to Maxis.
Frequently asked questions
Is this an official Maxis speed test?
No. This is an independent browser test. Maxis also provides its own test and app diagnostics; use those when requested by its support team.
Why is the result lower on WiFi?
WiFi adds variables such as signal strength, interference, walls and device capability. Compare a capable Ethernet-connected device before concluding that the fibre line is slow.
Can I use the same test for fibre and 5G?
Yes, but make sure you are connected to the intended service. Fibre and mobile radio links have different limitations, so compare results in their own context.
Does this display my Maxis account or data balance?
No. The test does not access your provider account, identify your plan or read remaining quota. Use official Maxis account services for those tasks.
What if the problem continues?
Contact official Maxis support with the time of the problem, affected devices and repeated test results. Keep account numbers and other private details out of publicly shared screenshots.
For another connection, use our Unifi and TM speed test or Digi/CelcomDigi speed test. The expandable method note below the test explains its destination, data allowance and limits.
If wired results repeatedly stop around 100 Mbps on a faster fibre package, use the Ethernet adapter, cable and port checklist. Those local-network checks also apply to Maxis Home Fibre.
